Kutaj: The Herbal description
Kutaj is a deciduous laticiferous shrub, in the form of a small tree, about 3 meters high. It consists of short stems, pale bark and various branches. Leaf stalks are short with ovate to absolutely acuminate leaves about 10-20 cm long.Flowers are white colored, corymb - like cymes, 5-15 cm across and present the end of the branches of this herb. Each flower contains 5 white petals, oblong in shape with rounded tips, about 2-3 cm long. The color of these petals eventually turns into creamish yellow as the flowers grows. Bark of this herb is rough, brownish or grayish in color. Leaves are subsessile, elliptic, ovate-oblong, and membranous. Follicles are divaricate, cylindrical and with white spots. Seeds are light brown colored.
