Wrinkle Prevention

Before we get into remedies and face packs let us understand the process of aging skin.  With time, changes occur in the functionality of the upper most layers of the skin (epidermis) and the layer right next to it (dermis).

Epidermis appears tighter and thicker when we are young. It protects us from ill effects of sun, acts as a barrier to infection, etc. Whereas dermis contributes in providing the connective tissue and bearing proteins that make the epidermis look tighter and maintain certain amount of elasticity.

As age increases these basic functions start to diminish and thus the skin appears lose and saggy over a period of time.

Changes in Lifestyle

Do not stress your face much. The wear and tear in the muscle may increase the appearance of fine lines sooner than predicted. Eat plenty of antioxidants daily. These fight free radicals (age-causing elements) and thus help in slowing down aging process of whole body.

Antioxidants are present in all fruits and vegetables. Best sources include mangosteen, green tea, strawberries, gooseberries, almonds, ashwagandha, spinach, eggs, oysters, salmon, tuna, broccoli, tomatoes and cranberries.

Follow a daily routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Increase in pigmentation and darkening of the skin are initial signs of aging.

Home Remedies

Castor oil can be used on face and body. Apply a thin coat of castor oil on your face and body and let it work over night. Do this remedy for 15 days and suppleness of your skin will improve.

Likewise, sweet almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil can be used. The advantage with oils is that they provide an overall purpose of moisturizing, skin tightening and reducing pigmentation.

Cut a seedless green grape into help. Gently rub the half grape on the wrinkled area. Allow to dry for 20 minutes and then wash with warm water. If your have open pores do not use this remedy.

Those with open pores can rub a thin mixture of gooseberry powder and lemon juice into the skin twice daily. Wash off with water after 10 minutes. The rich vitamin C content does the needful. Prepare a mixture of ginger and honey and apply on face. See the result for your self.
