Why Lipsticks Can be Harmful!

A woman with a stunning face with smooth and glowing skin will always look beautiful because of her natural beauty. But not every woman is as lucky to have all the necessary features and hence they use different cosmetic products. Not that cosmetic products are bad to use, but they can be harmful. One of the vital components that make its way to a woman’s makeup kit is the lipstick. No matter how old a woman is, what occasion she is going for, what the weather conditions are, she will always use her lipstick.

A lipstick is indeed very important for those women who have swollen or cracked lips as it hides these shortcomings. But do you know that lipstick can be really harmful to your health. There are many women who apply too much lipstick, just for the sake of it. And lipstick is not the only thing that they apply on the lips. It is often accompanied with lip gloss, matte and glitter. But a recent research has pointed out that applying too much lipstick can cause serious health problems, including cancer.

Lipstick contains lead which is a highly toxic substance. Apart from lead, it also contains other heavy metals like nickel, copper, chromium, arsenic and cobalt. Now when a woman applies the lipstick, some of these toxic substances are absorbed by the lips and make way to their digestive system. The rest of them are either absorbed by the pigments of the skin or they react with other chemicals present in the environment causing rashes on the lips. Also, many times a large amount of lead and copper from the lipstick is consumed while eating or drinking.

Due to the consumption of such toxic substances, the health remains compromised as they cause many health problems. Lead and copper react with the enzymes present in the stomach and can cause turbulence by disrupting the normal functioning of the digestive system. Also, if arsenic consumption exceeds a certain level, then it can directly harm vital organs of the body.

Therefore, avoid using lipstick as much as possible. Either go for some natural products or if you want to decorate your lips, make use of color pencils to color the lips and apply petroleum jelly on top of it. This will give the same effect as that of a lipstick, except that it won’t harm you.
