When we fall ill or experience any health problems, the first thing we do is visit a doctor. While some people are ready to take the antibiotics prescribed by the doctor to cure their ailment, others prefer trying some home remedies or herbal treatments. Also, there are people who allow time to cure their ailments as they are firm believers in nature’s healing power. But nowadays a new therapy is getting popular amongst people and it is called as acupressure therapy.
Acupressure is an old healing technique that was invented and practiced by the Chinese long ago. Even today it is used on a large scale to cure various health related problems. The acupressure therapy focuses on curing a patient by applying pressure on specific points of the body. This treatment is very popular and getting more and more importance as it is a natural therapy that has proved to be successful for many people. Also it does not cause any side effects.
The acupressure therapy is simple in appearance but provides effective and powerful results. This therapy uses fingers to press specific points on the surface of skin that triggers the natural curability process of the human body. When the points are pressed, it releases muscular tension and stimulates blood flow, thereby allowing the body to start its own mechanism to cure the ailment.
Since this therapy depends upon the power and sensitivity of the human hand, anyone can practice it; as long as proper instructions are followed. It is believed that acupressure therapy helps in curing the diseases by balancing the proper energies within our body. It can cure muscular pains, headaches, arthritis, flu, insomnia, hiccups, backaches, depression and many more.
A similar therapy called as acupuncture is also widely popular which makes use of needles instead of human hand as in acupressure. But acupressure is more popular than acupuncture because some people fear the idea of needles being pierced into their body. Also, the healing ability and sensitivity of a human hand is more effective than using needles.
Though there are some special instruments which can be used to practice acupressure at home, it is advisable to consult an acupressurist as he will be in a better position to identify the problem and suggest proper exercises for the same.
