Weight Loss Principles
February 8, 2010
Crash dieting and remedies may be able to help you lose weight quickly but they deprive the body of vital nutrients thus making body lose its inner strength. There are certain principles of losing weight which must be followed in order to lose weight permanently and develop physical strength.
Be practical about losing weight. Losing 2-3 kilos in first month is just fine. Thereafter lose 1 to 2 kilos every month. Setting a reasonable target will help you lose weight in a steady manner.
Steady weight loss will keep you motivated. Setting of unreasonable target will only lead to disappointment which may put you at a higher risk of depression and binging.
Eat a balanced diet. A balanced diet will provide carbohydrates, proteins, mineral, vitamins and fiber. Stick to a diet that you can follow regularly for at least 2 months. Always eat slowly. As you chew more of what you eat, the digestives juices such as amylase present in the mouth will fasten digestion process.
Better digestion eliminates pressure off the stomach and intestine. Eating non-saturated fats in the form of lean meat, fish and low-fat dietary products will help in healthy weight loss.
Drink plenty of water. Drink up to 3 to 5 liter of water, including herbal teas. These fluids help in elimination of fat through excretory system. Green tea, lemon tea and aloe vera juice are trusted fluids for body detoxification and weight loss.
Make exercising your habit. One hour work out, 6 days a week, is extremely helpful in losing weight. Before starting a strenuous work-out regime consult a professional. Preferably, choose exercises to focus on problem areas like belly, buttocks, highs, etc.
If you have chosen to do yoga exercises then go for 30 to 45 minutes of brisk walk. It will help in complete toning of the body.
Problems Associated with Abrupt Weight Loss
Anorexia, binging, sugar addiction, anemia, deficiency of vitamins and minerals and weak bones are all common problems with crash dieting and abrupt weight loss. Reproductive system and endocrine system are badly affected. Hormonal imbalance is common in people with sudden weight loss.
Such a weight loss is not long lasting. Re-bound weight will appear sooner or later and pile suddenly on the body.
Remember, there is no alternative to a healthy lifestyle.
