Vitamins for Hormone Functioning
Hormones are released from the endocrine glands in our body. These are ductless glands and release their secretions directly into the blood for performing functions. There are over 12 major endocrine glands in our body.
Normally, they maintain themselves very well as long as they are provided with enough amounts of vitamins and minerals to support their functions. Here are the most essential for hormones to function well with any disturbance.
After much research the conclusion that in order to maintain hormonal balance we need selenium, zinc, chorine, biotin, chromium, Vitamin B complex and Iodine.
Iodine is the most critical mineral for thyroid hormone. Natural sources of iodine are fish and seaweed. Including iodized salt in daily diet is sufficient. You will have to keep a check on your blood pressure as well. Too much of salt intake is not suitable. On standard basis, 100 mcg of iodized salt is enough for a body.
The thyroid hormone can be properly maintained by providing zinc and selenium to body. Low amounts of thyroid hormone can cause fatigue and weight gain troubles. Also, here is decreased ability to carry out normal functions of day to day life.
Vitamin B complex keeps functioning of adrenal glands. In case of low release of adrenal gland secretions, you will feel frequently irritated. It may also cause hypoglycemia. Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B5 are crucial when it comes to adrenal gland secretions. Capsules of vitamin B complex are easily available in market. Natural sources include all green leafy vegetables.
Biotin is required for insulin regulation. Insulin disturbance leads to diabetes. Biotin can be obtained form poultry products. It is also found in fish. The female hormone estrogen is regulated with vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and chorine. Excess of this hormone is excreted via liver. These vitamins and minerals help in this action.Vitamin E and folic acid supplementation are also helpful in maintaince of female hormones.
