Understanding Fatigue

Occasional fatigue is experienced by everyone but frequent fatigue should not be taken lightly. Frequent or chronic fatigue could be sign of a cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, anemia or arthritis. It may also suggest development of hypothyroidism or a sleeping disorder.

Fatigue is basically of two types-emotional and physical. It is important to understand which type of fatigue one is suffering from in order to take the right treatment.

Stressful situations, meeting too many deadlines, boredom, loneliness and depression leaves people emotionally fatigued very soon.

Lack of enough sleep and doing too many tasks can lead to physical fatigue.

Remedies for All Types of Fatigue

Meditation is a great way to relax and get rid of both mental and physical fatigue. One can either learn meditation from an experienced person or make use of self help books. Meditation can be practiced any time of the day but it is most helpful in the morning.

Good sleep is the key to beat the fatigue. If you are having trouble sleeping then try sniffing few drops of lavender essential oil. It relaxes the neurons. Hot/ cold bath are equally effective in relaxing the body. Lie down immediately after the bath. Oil bath is very helpful in treating fatigue, headaches and body ache.

Massages are a good way of relaxing and regaining energy. You may choose to get a foot massage; head massage or complete body massage. If you want to do something at home then fill in hot water in a bath. Add Epsom salt and a few drops of essential oil of your choice.

You will need to make some healthy food choices. A diet rich in antioxidants will keep your system energized. Quit smoking and alcohol. Instead, drink natural energy drinks made of seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Eating one meal a day that consists of fresh fruits or raw vegetables helps in excretion of toxin.

Regular exercise is said to help in prevention of fatigue. Studies show that simple stretching or breathing exercise can actually keep you active for 12 hours.

A normal fatigue can be treated using these simple remedies but chronic fatigue may require more advance methods like acupressure, acupuncture, chakra healing, etc.
