The unpleasant feet odor must not be ignored as the problem may be a symptom of serious fungal or bacterial infection.Smelly feet may be due to unhygienic habits, improper air ventilation to the feet or use of bad quality foot wear (as made from polyester and artificial leather). Know how to treat the odor problem right away.
Maintain a routine to wash your feet twice every day after removing shoes. Use an antibacterial soap to wash them. You may use naturally fragrant lemon soaps to clean the feet. Lemon is a natural antibacterial agent. Dry your feet well after washing and do not share your towel with anyone.
Do not wear closed foot wear at home. V-shape sleepers will help the skin of the feet to breathe.
If you need to wear shoes for more than 6 hours then dab plenty of talcum powder containing zinc.
Zinc is extremely helpful in reducing perspiration and the talcum will absorb the sweat. Use the under-arm deodorant on your feet. Although they have no role in reducing sweat but they help in killing bacteria that may be causing the odor. Never wear shoes without socks. Wear cotton socks only.
Also, do not wear the same shoes for two days consecutively. Allow the shoes to dry for a while before using them second time. This is especially important for gym goers or those who walk regularly. Most of the athletes wear same shoes continuously for several days.
Remove hair from the toes. They increase the area on which the bacteria can grow. You may either wax them or remove using hair removing cream.
There are certain quick remedies to ward off foot odor. Wash feet with vinegar. It is able to clean the area thoroughly and is easily available.
If your diet is deficient in zinc then take supplementation of zinc, about 50 mg is required daily. Sea food, especially oysters and mollusks are great source of zinc.
After washing your feet with water and soap put your feet in warm tea water for 10 to 15 minutes. The tannic acid content works as an antiperspirant. Use alcohol and vodka to wash your feet thoroughly. Pat dry and go to sleep.
