Treating Upset Tummy At Home

Dysentery is one big trouble. Untreated dysentery leaves a person weak, with aching rectum, often accompanied by acute pain in stomach. There are several factors which may lead to dysentery.

These include bacterial infection, emotional distress, food intolerance, lactose intolerance or stomach flue (also called as viral gastroenteritis).

Here are some effective home remedies to treat the upset stomach. Emetine is a chemical found in nature which works well in stopping dysentery. The seeds of gourd are a good source of emetine. 5 grams of powder of these seeds is consumed with one glass of buttermilk two times in a day. This remedy works especially well in amoebic dysentery.

Sun dried bel fruits is one good remedy for dysentery. Powder these and consume one teaspoon with warm water two times everyday until relief from dysentery. Mix a cup of thin buttermilk with 8 curry leaves (crushed to produce a paste). Consume this 3 times daily until relief comes.

Prepare thin tea water, i.e. with less tea and more water and boil some cardamom seeds in them. Sieve and drink to get relief from stomach ache due to dysentery. One ripe banana when mixed with a pinch of salt and some tamarind is very helpful in treating lose motions. The remedy must be taken two times in a day.

If your condition is not too serious, then you can use some lighter remedies. These include consuming unsweetened black tea, drinking pomegranate juice, eating baked apples and avoiding raw foods and vegetables (salads). You may even try mixing kajoor with some honey and consuming it two to three times in day.

Prevention is better than cure. Therefore, it is advisable to prevent disturbance in bowel movements by sticking to certain rules and regulations. Always maintain good hygienic habits. Always wash your hands well (for 30 seconds at least) with a good antibacterial soap.

Do not bring hands in contact with mouth frequently. While using public toilet, avoid letting skin come in contact with any objects. Always drink filtered water and drink it as much as you can. Water is a natural detoxifier. It will help body get rid of any possible infection.
