Treating Burns

Something or the other burns everyone in his or her lifetime. The burn is categorized as first degree, second degree or third degree burn. The treatment is done depending upon the degree of the burn sustained.

First degree burns

These cause very little injury. They only cause redness and a little pain. They usually go away in a day or two.

Second degree burns

These cause blisters, swelling and they can also peel the skin. These take around three weeks to heal.

Third degree burns

These are the severe ones. They damage the skin and even the nerves below the skin. That is why they do not cause pain. These cause black charred skin.

Treating Burns

The basic steps that should be taken when anybody gets burnt include reducing the temperature of the burnt area by putting ice-cold water over it. After that you can apply honey on it, which helps to heel the wound faster.

Aloe vera is also good for the burnt skin. Apply it on the burnt area and when it begins to heal open a vitamin E capsule and put it over the affected area so as to prevent the scar from developing.

Diet plays a very important role in healing the burnt wound. The affected person should take diet rich in protein and it should be high in calories also.

If some acid causes the burn, then the home remedy would be applying diluted vinegar on the area by dipping it in a cloth. It acts as a painkiller and also relaxes the person.

Pulp of banana applied immediately to the area will cool the area and also allows no blister to form on the skin. To get quick relief from the pain of burn, cut a slice of potato and place it on the burnt area. This would give you enough relief from the burning sensation.

To remove the white scars that are left behind after the burn, dab a cotton ball in honey and tie it on the affected area by some cloth. Do it continuously and you would see that the spot will vanish in some days.
