Treat Cough There And Then

Winter has been welcomed and with it has come along the season of running nose and throat infections. Nevertheless, there are certain quick things to do to enjoy the weather rather than just coughing the months off. Avoid bathing with very hot water. When you bath with very hot water, especially on working days, you tend to catch seasonal infection more quickly.

Bathing with lukewarm water is beneficial since it will prevent excessive dryness of skin, another common problem in winters. In morning hours, after breakfast, carry a piece of Glycerizza glabra
(mulethi) in your mouth. It is effective against soreness of throat.

As soon as you feel getting infection simply drink on tea made of ginger and Tulsi. They are natural boosters of immunity. Mint tea and green tea (without milk) are also beneficial in condition of cough.
Another natural immune booster preparation is pomegranate juice with 4 full tbsp of ginger juice. Drink it on (ignore the flavour).

Coffee lovers can drink frequent cups of coffee (without milk) to get temporary office relief from cough. In cases of severe cough and throat infection, congestion occurs in the chest, prepare warm mixture of rock salt and clarified butter. Massage it on the chest before sleep (one needs to be in bed rest for atleast 4-5 hours after massage). An interesting home remedy includes that of taking some whisky (a pint), 1 tbsp glycerin and about 4 rock candies. Shake it every time and take at bed time. Avoid drinking normal water after consumption of food. Drink slightly warm water.

This will even help you stay active and improve digestion. Keep cough lozenges with you. These are easily available in market. Go for ginger, betel based preparations. Using jaggery, nuts, seseme seeds, clarified butter and besan prepare ladoos. Eat them with warm milk as breakfast to clear your throat.
