ToeNail Fungus

Fungal infections can be caused in any part of the body. However, toe nails and finger nails are the most prone areas for this infection. Fungus affects toe nails because they grow on the keratin (that is protein in the toe nail).

Causes

The main reasons for the fungal growth can be wearing very tight shoes or wearing shoes for very long time period that does not allow enough air to go inside and also not drying the foot after bathing, exercising and also decreased immunity can be the cause for the same.

Symptoms

This is a contagious disease and can be hereditary also. It causes discoloration of the nail. Nail becomes brown or yellow in colour. The most affected fingers are the big toe finger and the little one. Foul smell comes from the nail and the nail becomes so hard that it becomes difficult to wear shoes. Shape of the nail also becomes distorted.

Nail fungus infection can be painful and an also cause permanent damage to the nail. If you have diabetes or some other diseases that causes suppression of the immune system then you should be more careful.

Home Remedies

There are some simple home remedies that you can try to solve your problem.

When you begin to experience some infection then soak your feet in warm water with vinegar in it. Rubbing vicks vaporub on the infected nail is also highly beneficial. Also, soaking your nails in the listerine mouth wash is also good and it leaves the nails look brighter.

Take an onion and cut it into slices and rub it on the toe nail. A paste of turmeric powder and water can also be applied to the affected area.

Avoid wearing tight socks and shoes. Always wear fresh socks everyday. Tea tree oil can also be applied to the toe nail with cotton for good results.
