Tips For A Good Posture

We have heard a lot about the importance of healthy diet, proper exercise, healthy lifestyle, etc on our health. But have we ever seriously thought about the importance of posture. I know most of us haven’t.  But let me tell you that having a good posture is very important and beneficial as it aligns our bones and organs in a proper manner so that they work with maximum efficiency.

But many times, we hear people complaining about back pain and other issues related to their back. Most of the times, the problems related to back are a cause of maintaining a bad posture. Our spine carries our body weight throughout the day and night, whether we are standing, sitting, playing or sleeping. Due to daily wear and tear our spine has to bear a lot of pressure and this can even affect the nerves and the spinal cord.

We often do not follow proper posture positions and sit in a slouched position which damages our body posture and causes many problems related to the back. You can avoid these chronic pains if you follow these tips.

While standing, keep your head between your shoulders and do not tilt it to a particular side. Try to put as much of your weight on the balls of your feet and not on the heels and toes. Your knees should be straight and hips should be in level, they should not slop to one side.

While sitting, keep your neck, shoulders and spine straight. Do not sit cross legged; keep your legs at an angle of 90 degrees with your body. Avoid the tempt of slouching in your seat!

Thus the main point is that no matter what your profession is or what you are doing, you should always try to keep your spine straight as it helps in maintaining proper posture and also prevents chronic back pain and other problems.
