The Silent Cry Of Prostatitis
Prostatitis is a silent cry amongst men. The percentage is on increase and more and more young as well
as middle aged men are suffering from this problem. The worse is the physicians have problem diagnosing the condition correctly. The reason being that symptoms carry from person to person.
The commonest of the symptoms include incomplete emptying of the balder and painful urination. But these same signs could be of some other disorder as well. Even symptoms of infection resemble those of Prostatitis.
Other symptoms include frequent urination at night, swollen prostate and painful ejaculation. The risk factors include in case a person has had insertion of a medical device such as a urinary catheter. Also, when you have an enlarged prostate or you engage yourself in rectal intercourse.
There are different types of prostatitis and the cause of the condition depends upon the type of prostatitis.
One is acute bacterial prostatits. In this the infection is initiated in urinary tract but may spread from bladder to urethral infection. Then is chronic bacterial prostatits. Though there is no clear evidence what starts this condition but the newly inserted catheter tube may be the source of bacteria. The other type of prostatits is non-bacterial and there is different variety on their development.
The treatment of acute bacterial Prostatitis is that patient is given antibiotics for 14 days. This can be continued for over four weeks. The duration of chronic bacterial prostatitis is longer, for about 12 weeks. Even after the treatment, the problem may re-occur. Under such a condition, the antibiotic therapy is repeated again. Other form of medications include prostate massage therapy and surgery. The surgery of this condition must not be taken lightly.
Treatment for early stages includes radiation therapy radical prostatectomy. For the advanced stages, Hormone therapy, radiation therapy and chemotherapy are performed.fro the acute pain, alpha blockers are given. But these must be taken according to the prescription. The pain killers provided over the counter lead to serious side effects including ulcers and intestinal bleeding.
