Tattoo Protection from Sun

Tattoos are a trend today. People of all ages and all professionals are getting their favorite designs or art work tattooed on their body. But do you know that sun rays can damage your tattoos! And not only this, it can also cause skin problems due to the irritation of skin because of the reaction of the ink and the sun rays.

So does this mean that people having tattoos should not go out in the sun. No. Here are a few effective tips that can help you protect your tattoo and your skin while basking in the sun.

1. Sunscreen lotion with highest SPF
Applying a strong sunscreen lotion not only prevents your skin from getting tanned, but it also prevents your tattoo from looking dull. While choosing a sunscreen lotion, make sure that it has a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Any sunscreen lotion with a SPF more than 30 would be a good choice. Also remember that you need to keep applying sunscreen lotion to your tattoo every time you go out in the sun. It should not happen that you only apply the sunscreen after your bath and keep moving in the sun the whole day. Re-applying the sunscreen after every 2 hours would protect your tattoo from losing its shine and look.

2. Sunless tanning lotions
Many people like to have a tanned look and hence over expose their bodies in the sun, thus risking their tattoos. While some repent their decisions later on, few people make a smart choice by selecting a sunless tanning lotion, which provides a tanned look without going in the sun. Now isn’t that a great way to achieve a tanned look? Anyways, the point here is that these sunless tanning lotions are as safe as sunscreen lotions to your tattoos. So use them smartly and sport both a tanned body and a cool tattoo.

Remember that over exposure of sun can make your tattoo fade away and will require frequent touch ups. So follow a few precautions and forget about your tattoo getting spoiled.
