Taking Care of Genital Warts
Genital warts are not just the most commonly sexually transmitted disease but it is powerful enough to cause anal and cervical cancer.The disease normally occurs through skin contact during oral genital or anal sex. The virus of strain type 6 and 11 are most commonly responsible for occurrence of the disease.
Most of the patients of genital warts carry the virus and are capable of transferring it to a new host.
They appear in and around the genital areas and are as common in men as in women. Symptoms in women are less obvious.
Abnormal skin growth will be visible on scrotum, tip of the penis, anus, vagina and on opening of the uterus.
The infection through these skin growths is very common. The friction generated during sex causes the viral particles to enter the genital area of the partner and cause infection. Interestingly, the HPV infection can remain dormant for several years and appear suddenly.
Self Care
Use of contraception will provide protection from the infection. Nevertheless, one must avoid having sexual intercourse with an infected person.
Once infected and the growth happens, avoid scratching to put any type of pressure in that area must be preventing from any trauma. The warts may bleed and thus worsen the condition.
The fluids that the warts carry are themselves infectious. Do not touch them as the infection may spread. The warts must not be squeezed or picked with needle.
Home Remedies
Apple cider vinegar is a very effective remedy for genital warts. Soak small amount cotton with apple cider vinegar. Squeeze it and tie to the warts using a bandage. Do this remedy in night. If the size of the warts are small then they will be healed within a month if this remedy is done daily. It may take time for larger warts to disappear.
Use of apple cider vinegar may cause more pain in some people. If the discomfort remains for 1-2 days then stop doing this remedy.
Banana peels and thin slices of figs can be applied directly to the warts. These foods contain enzymes that digest the warts. Continous use of this remedy helps in removing warts in a safe manner. Papaya extract and pineapple can also be used.
