Stop Snore

Obstruction in the respiratory tract that causes hindrance in the inhalation and exhalation cycle leads to snoring. There are many reasons that lead to interruption in the natural functioning of the throat passage.
Obesity, certain allergies, respiratory infection like cough and cold, anatomical abnormabilities and genes are all responsible for snoring. It is more common in men than in women but with age this ratio becomes more or less the same.
Raise your pillow so that your upper is a little higher than the rest of your body. You can add another pillow which makes it a little higher by not more than 2 inches. You can also add two wood logs at the bed head end to provide an elevation.
According to an observation many people who snore do so when they sleep on their back. Golf ball remedy is very popular for such snorers. Prepare a sleeping shirt just for this purpose.
Sew in a golf ball into the pocket of the T-shirt. Wear it backwards and sleep. The ball makes it uncomfortable to sleep on the back. Hence it prevents snoring.
Traditionally, many people believe that those facing problem of indigestion snore in night. Regular exercise and eating a balanced diet will help in better colon cleansing. A diet which is rich in dairy products increases mucus in the respiratory system and elevates the congestion.
Alcohol and sedatives have the same effect on the system and they may actually make snoring worse due to relaxation that they provide to the throat muscles.
Avoid these foods for 2 to 3 weeks and ask the one who sleeps with you if there is any difference.
Air allergens may aggravate snoring. Keep the bedroom clean and free from all such things which may contribute for any types of allergens. Try vacuuming of the bedroom at least once a week and observe the difference.
Snore caused due to upper respiratory tract can be relieved by applying an herbal balm prepared by mentha and tulsi on the throat and chest after a warm shower. This will reduce congestion and help one breathe better.
Use of nasal dilators, available as OTC products, help in breathing in a better way. This simple instrument is applied at bedtime and placed on the nose.
