Stay Away from Breast Cancer
January 4, 2010
Breast cancer is no more restricted to the western countries. It has become a global issue. Each year more than fifty thousand women die due to breast cancer across the globe.
Here is a brief about what factors play significant role in development of breast cancer and how the disease can be prevented.
Causes
Wearing an under wire bra causes breast cancer or not is a debatable issue but here is a theory which it quite logical. The under wire bra puts pressure on the lymphatic nodes of the breasts which are responsible for removing toxins from the breasts. Due to the pressure the nodes are unable to drain out the toxins.
Wearing under wire bra for very long hours generate heat in the breasts which are harmful for the tender tissues in the same way that is harmful for the sperms in the scrotal sac of men (they get destroyed).
It has been found that excess exposure to the female sex hormone estrogen greatly increases the risk.
It could be through consumption of contraceptive pills for several numbers of years. Women who experience onset of periods at an age below 12 or those with late menopause are also at risk of developing the cancer. No pregnancy, late pregnancy and history of breast cancer in family are other reasons.
Prevention
Right choice of foods and a regular fitness regime are most effective weapons to prevent breast cancer.
Foods that are rich in antioxidants help fight free radicals. These free radicals are generated in the body as result of metabolic activity or absorbed from the surrounding environments. Foods that are good source of vitamins and minerals must be included in daily diet.
These include oranges (vitamin C), broccoli, tomatoes (lycopene), gooseberries, cucumber, turnip greens, white squash, butternut squash, chili pepper, spinach, pumpkin and mangosteen.
Start using mono-saturated oils like omega 3 fatty acids which provide good source of selenium, the mineral known for its anticancer properties. These are found in avocados, olive oil and canola oil.
Industrial waste and environmental pollution provide xeno-estrogens. These compounds are chemically similar to the estrogen. Excess accumulations of these compounds in the body act like toxins and trigger cancerous cells. Therefore, daily detoxification of body is important.
