Spider And Varicose Veins
Veins are the blood vessels that return the blood to the heart which is used by various organs in the body. The blood that is carried by the veins is full of waste materials like carbon dioxide.
This blood is then passed to the lungs where it is refreshed and again loaded with oxygen and then supplied back to the whole body.
Varicose Veins
Veins are of different sizes in the body. The largest vein is located at the centre of the body that collects the blood from all the small veins and pumps it to the heart. Sometimes when the circulation of the blood is poor, the veins get flooded with the blood and become bulging and visible. These are called varicose veins. They are mainly found in thighs and legs but can be found anywhere on the body.
Spider Veins
Some small veins also appear on the surface of the skin which appear as fine lines and make a structure like spider legs. These are known as spider veins. These are more commonly found in ankles, thighs and feet. Spider veins are also termed as Telangiectasis.
Causes
These veins can occur in any male or female. But females are affected mainly in the childbearing age and older age. Family history of developing these types of veins is also counted. Sometimes weight gain, pregnancy and sedentary life style also cause appearance of these veins.
There is no cause known for these veins. Only some blockage in the veins can be the cause.
Symptoms
Symptoms could be aching, cramping, itching, selling and fatigue.
Prevention
One can easily prevent this condition. Exercise regularly. Walking is good for legs as it regulates circulation in the body. Avoid standing in one place for long. Maintain your body weight. Do not let it increase too much. Never cross your legs while sitting. This affects the blood flow. Similarly do not wear too high heels this also affects the blood flow. Sometimes keep a pillow below your legs when you are lying down so that blood flow becomes easier.
