Solution For Knee Pain
One need not fall off the stairs to experience knee pain. It may occur to anyone. Elderly people and women in general are at higher risk to suffer from knee pain. Here are some simple ways to deal with knee pain.
The first thing to notice is your footwear. Wrong footwear may just be the reason for your knee pain. Choose shoes which are shock absorbers. This is especially important for those who work out regularly. On an average, if one walks 5 miles in two weeks then they must change shoes by the sixth month.
People do not change their shoes for years. This is not all good for health of their feet and knee. Do those exercises which will strengthen muscles and ligaments. These structures support the knee. Hence, it is important to increase their endurance.
Hamstring string and sitting leg lifts are very helpful. Try choosing a softer running surface. If any exercise is causing pain to knee, stop immediately. Listen to your body.
There is an interesting therapy called rice. It stands for rest, ice, compression and elevation. Whenever you feel pain in knees take some rest and apply ice bag on the knees. Elevate your legs and let the ice packs compress it for 20 to 30 minutes.
Exercises for sore knees can be easily done in water. Water provides buoyancy and helps in toning of the muscles without any strain on knees.
Take your supplements of vitamin A, B-complex, E and C every day. These vitamins help in rejuvenation of cartilages and tendons. These antioxidants reduce knee pain. Apart from these nutrients, pills made of chemicals chondroitin and glucosamine are gaining a good reputation in bringing relief to knee pains.
Creams and lotions made of witch hazel can be applied 2-3 times in a day. You may also soak knees in warm water containing Epsom salt. This will reduce swelling and knee pain.
In case of immobility of knees, development of discoloration, persistent swelling and tenderness one must consult the doctor immediately.
Do not ignore knee pain. It may suggest development of osteoporosis or tendinitis.
