Simple Techniques To Forget Less

Certain health problems contributes in degeneration of memory. These include high blood pressure, fatigue, alcohol addiction, depression and high cholesterol.

Forgetfulness is also experienced by many as a side effect of medications. Nevertheless there are a few things one can do to decrease the tendency of forgetfulness.

Many psychiatrists believe that being inattentive is one of the biggest reasons of forgetfulness. So, try to be attentive always. If one tries to be attentive towards surroundings and people things will be easier to register.

Do mental exercises. Games like crosswords, scrabble, etc are good to keep one mentally alert. Also, it has been found that people who play mental games related to education and language have least tendency to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

Role of Diet

Those people who eat a diet rich in antioxidants were found to be at a lower risk of losing memory. This was concluded due to the theory that memory loss is found to be related to presence of unstable oxygen molecules in the body. These are eliminated by the antioxidants. Fruits and vegetables are potent antioxidants, especially blueberries (entire berry family).

Deficiency of Vitamin B12 may effect optimal mental functioning. This is one of the major causes of elderly people to develop memory loss problems. With age, the body gives up its capability to absorb vitamin B-complex. A simple blood test can tell you if you have the deficiency or not. Daily supplementation can be taken.

Also, supplementation with vitamin E is helpful since it is a powerful antioxidant. Drink more water. Drinking less water may increase symptoms of fatigue which may lead to forgetfulness. Avoid eating foods which may cause rise in LDL levels.

Herbs

Gingko, Siberian ginseng and rosemary are memory stimulating herbs. Taking 120 mg of gingko supplementation has shown to improve circulation in the brain and increase alertness. Siberian ginseng is brain rejuvenating herb. It improves mental and physical exhaustion.

These are easily available in the form of capsules. Rosemary herb is equally effective but the oil must not be directly consumed. It is toxic.

Avoid drinking too much of alcohol. Exercise regularly and lead a stress-free life. Leading a quality life boosts mental health.
