Side Effects of Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted hair is a common beauty problem. Every woman wants to get rid of them and flaunt her skin. One popular method of permanent hair removal is through laser treatment. But before you make a speedy call to book yourself for a laser treatment here are certain things you must know.

It is important you choose the right season to get the laser treatment done. The weather must not be too hot as it will trigger irritation and discomfort to the sensitive skin after the treatment. Plus, there are some common side effects that you must be ready for just in case.

Hyperpigmentation is characterized by appearance of dark spots on skin. On the treated area, hyperpigmentation may occur. You may have to wait a long time before these spots completely vanish but till then, you must apply the preparations as given to you by the laser professional.

Pain is obvious during the laser procedure but it may persist after the treatment. That is why a local anesthetic is used during the operation, and a pain killer may be taken after the treatment is done. Ice packs help but must not be rubbed but just applied gently.

Swelling of the treated area can be made better by topical application as prescribed by the practitioner. The skin of the face is most sensitive.

One painful and embarrassing side effect is occurrence of blisters. Since they get noticed, it may announce public that you got the treatment done. Blisters are more common when treatment is done on a darker skin tone. Cryogen spray is helpful in cooling the sensitive skin.

Many a times, they may also be injured during the surgery. The eyewear must be worn by both the person getting the treatment and the physician. The eye wear are wavelength-specific.

Crusting is rare and occurs in 10 percent of the person who get laser done. If not treated well then it may become permanent. It sually occurs due to repeated treatment on the same area. Therefore post-treatment care is very important.

The physician will prescribe you creams and lotions to be used daily so as to let skin can re-gain normal strength after the operation.
