The person is exposed to lights of different wavelengths and spectrum. In rare cases, diagnosis can be done only in presence of sunlight. The dermatologists have special equipments for this.
Diagnosis is important since the symptoms may be common to other skin conditions such as porphyria and polymorphous light eruption.
The treatment includes using both topical as well as internal medications. Antihistamines and steroids are choice of drugs for treatment. Although topical application in the form of creams is enough but oral steroids are given in extreme conditions.
