Safe Herbs For Seasonal Cough And Cold

Seasonal cough and cold seem to worsen with age. One way, your immunity starts to deplete with ageing and on the other hand there is something you really want to do something about this.

Well, a little help from the herbs might prove to be fruitful and refreshing, for a change from regular medication. Haldi or Turmeric contains curcumin. Curcumin gives it the yellow colour and is enriched with anti-inflammatory action.

According to a research, when turmeric is fried with ghee and consumed by asthma suffering patients have showed positive results. Turmeric mixed in a glass of warm milk has been observed to boost immunity and promote healing ability of the body.

Coltsfoot can be smoked to get relief from respiratory discomforts. It has been used in traditional Indian medicines.

Chew on Licorice stems to get a soother throat. It suppresses cough and is used as key ingredients in many cold and cough preparations. Adhotoda is part of traditional ayurvedic medication. The chemical vascine present in it performs the action of an expectorant. This facilitates expulsion of infectants. Therefore eases breathing.

Tulsi or basil is also effective in common cold and cough. Boil two glasses of water with 10 to 15 leaves of Tulsi. Drinking this at thrice daily will help you get relieve. The famous ginkgo does its job here as well.

The Platlet activation Factor or PAF initiate and aggravate the condition of cough and cold, especially in asthma patients. Ginkgo alone can suppress PAF and provide expulsion of the infection.

It is also well for its life revitalizing properties. In china, it is believed that warriors were able to survive by thriving on parts of this herb. Ephedra also relieves congestion.

Green tea, Ephedra and Hyssop Tea all open bronchial pathway for better exchange of gases. The seasonal allergies that lead to asthma can be treated by drinking ginger tea  twice daily.
