Right Way To Wax At Home
Waxing is the safest method of hair removal. The most common ingredients used in wax are honey, vinegar and lemon extract. Waxing can help you in more ways than one. It can help remove tan during summers and it removes hair from roots so that re-growth is late. Since the ingredients used are usually natural they hardly cause any side effects.
Procedure to Wax
Requirement
Hot wax is more convenient to handle than cold wax. Melt your wax such that the temperature can be tolerated by the skin easily. You will need a waxing knife, disposable waxing strips, cotton, talcum powered and ice cubes.
To start waxing you must have enough hair grow for the wax to hold on to so that they can be removed. Also, make sure you have applied no moisturizer on the area to be waxed. Wash and pat dry the area and apply talcum powder to it. Talcum powder will soak any moisturizer present on the skin. This will help the wax to hold on to the hair more firmly and hence better results.
Apply the wax on the area in even layers using waxing knife in the direction of hair growth. Do not apply a very thick coating of wax which is often difficult to remove. Cover the wax completely with the waxing strip and pat on it for few seconds to stick well. Remove the strip in opposite direction of hair growth. If case of any leftovers, simple re-applies, pat again and remove. Repeat the same steps to wax the desired area.
Things to Remember
Do not apply wax on a very large area in one time. Choose small and even segments. This will cause less pain and less mess.
Once you are done with waxing apply ice cubes on the area so as to reduce redness and tighten the pores. One must always apply after-wax lotion to restore firmness of the skin.
Avoid that area from coming in contact with heat (sun tanning, hot baths, sauna, etc) for next 12 to 24 hours.
Any redness of the skin should get disappeared by 8 hours. If it does not happen consult a skin specialist.
Application of sun blocks may cause irritation to the waxed skin and aggravate skin redness. Avoid using them for next 12 hours.
