Remedies for Smelly Feet
Do you remember the last time when someone removed their shoes and the entire room smelled like rotten vegetables? Well, we can not do anything about others but we can make sure that our feet smell nothing like that if not fragrant.
Here are some simple and easy remedies to get rid of smelly feet
If you have tendency to perspire excessively then put on enough talcum to your feet before putting on socks. Make sure you do not wear the same sock the next day without washing. Change your socks frequently.
You may be surprised to know that wearing two socks can actually reduce perspiration. According to Frederick Hass, a general practitioner at San Rafael in California, when we wear two socks, the air trapped between the two socks provides a cooling effect.
Also, it is better to wear cotton socks throughout all seasons. Avoid any synthetic material. Even in winters, wear cotton socks first and then wear anything woolen.
Certain foods boost perspiration. Pungent foods like garlic, scallions, onions and peppers must be avoided.
You may apply sun-free tanning cream on your feet. This is because the main ingredient in these preparations is glutaraldehyde. It will obviously turn your feet a little brown but it will be worth the effort.
At the end of the day, soak your feet for 30 minutes in hot water with 4 to 5 tea bags. You may also soak your feet in hot water with apple cider vinegar (5 tbsp).
You may also use rice water to soak your feet. You may apply your underarm antiperspirant to your feet and keep them dry. Use the one carrying more amount of aluminum chlorohydrate. Application of Benzoyl peroxide gel to feet helps in decreasing the growth of bacteria. You may use any marketed preparation carrying more than 5 per cent of Benzoyl peroxide.
If none of these home remedies work then permanent surgical solution is also available. These are performed in two ways. One method is to remove the sweat glands completely and the second method is to block the nerve that is causing excessive sweating.
