Quit Smoking: Help Yourself
Smoking is injurious to health. Everybody knows this fact but still people continue to smoke. Some individuals do want to quit but cannot. There are some simple steps that can be taken so that it becomes easy for the person to quit smoking.
The very basic step is the determination with which one wants to quit smoking. You have to be very strict with what you want to do. Do not think what would happen if you would not smoke or how difficult it would be. You should be aware of all the positive reasons for not smoking. Setting a particular day for quitting can be a good option to start with.
When you start up first of all change the brand of your cigarette. This way you would not like the changed taste and definitely smoke less. Cut down the number of cigarettes you smoke each day. Take them to half.
Keep only those with you and you should know that you have to smoke only those. Smoke them only when it becomes very necessary. Smoke half of the cigarette and also try to avoid by delaying the time.
Whenever you smoke, wash your hands and change your clothes. Smell of the cigarette motivates your craving. Also spray some room freshener after the smoke.
Whenever you get the craving for smoking, do not go for smoking, rather eat something or drink a glass of juice or if possible drink milk because milk is said to be incompatible with smoking.
Note the amount of money you are saving by not smoking. Put the money aside for the specified number of cigarettes that you smoke and then compare the count when you quit smoking totally.
Stop buying box of cigarettes and buy only one pack at a time or if possible only one cigarette at that particular time. Do not carry cigarettes in car or in office.
While smoking sit alone and think what it can do with your health and then think about your children and you family members. It’s for sure that you would not do it again or atleast think of giving a try to quit.
Never empty your ashtray as by looking at it you would be able to know how much you have smoked.
At last when you would totally stop smoking then never ever think of smoking again.
