Preventing Razor Burns
Every man and woman must have experienced razor burns on legs, face and many more areas some or the other time. It is caused after using razor to remove the unwanted hair from any part of the body.
Prevention
It is always better to prevent something from happening than curing it. So before shaving, always wash the area or take bath. By doing this, the dead skin is removed and the skin is exfoliated.
To prevent these burns one has to take some precautions. Never shave in the opposite direction of your hair. Before shaving, exfoliate your skin by scrubbing the face so that hair comes up and dead skin is removed.
Always use a sharp blade because dull blades are the main cause of razor burns. Use a good after-shave or balm. Avoid using artificially scented after-shaves. When you are finished with shaving keep the razor dipped in alcohol as this would help to keep the razor lubricated. Men should use shaving creams with moisturizer for shaving.
Shaving legs or bikini area can also cause razor burns. First step to avoid these burns can be stop shaving. If this is not possible then never use the razor without any gel or cream. Avoid using razors on areas with wounds or cuts. It is advised to use electric razors instead of manual as they do not cause razor burns.
You can try some home-based remedies to get relief from razor burns. Mix two tablets of aspirin in a spoon of warm water and make a paste out of it and apply on the face. Rub it gently and leave it till dry. Wash the face and you will notice that burning sensation has vanished.
Mixture of strawberries with one spoon sour cream when applied on the shaved area after shaving even once a week would make your skin fresh and free from razor burns.
Dabbing the affected area with apple cider vinegar is also beneficial. You can apply simple vinegar also but if there is itching or redness then do not use vinegar. Rubbing the area with underarm deodorant is also effective.
Aloe vera gel is natural and very effective when used in curing not only razor burns but also for any skin irritation. Potato is also good for treating it. Peel the potato and keep the slice of it on the affected area.
