According to a research conducted by UK scientists, kukoamines discovered in potatoes may have a significant role in lowering blood pressure. These rare chemical compounds, till now, have only been found in an herbal plant Lycium chinense.

Glycogen is a form of which is stored in the muscle cells and liver. Vitamin B6 present in potatoes is essential for breakdown of glycogen. Hence it is responsible for improving endurance and performance in athletes. During strenuous physical activity increased energy is required by the body. Unavailability of B6 to breakdown glycogen to provide ATP may lead to tired muscles.

The high content of carbohydrates does not let brain fatigue. Potatoes cater to many needs of human body. The omega 3 fatty acids, amino acids and vitamins help in maintaining over all health of the body.

Potato can also be used as a beauty remedy. Daily rubbing of a thin slice of potato all over face and neck helps in fading freckles and other types of marks. It is popularly used to get rid of dark circles.
