Post-Delivery Care
A woman needs special care after delivery. The exhausted mother requires complete rest and there are many things that must be taken care of especially for the first six weeks post delivery. The body demand relaxation and rejuvenation to the normal stature. Here are simple guidelines to follow once the child birth has taken care. There are four major things that must be taken care about. One is to seek prevention against any infection.
The second is to let body rest well to let it come to the normal non-pregnant condition. The third is to encourage the mother for direct breast feeding and taking care of the sensitive breasts. The fourth important point is to find a way to have proper contraception after consultation from the doctor. The contraception must not be started until four weeks have passed.
A well balanced nutritional diet must be given to the mother for better and fast recovery. The diet rich in vitamins, mineral and fiber will not just provide nourishment for rejuvenation but will also prevent constipation which is a common problem in this condition. Optimal intake of water should be promoted and urination must be done every 4-5 hours. The genitals must be kept clean and the area should be wiped off with antiseptic to avoid any urinary tract infection. Bathing should be done with lukewarm water, especially for the breast.
It must be taken care not to clean them vigorously. Breast is sensitive at this stage and any form of cracking of nipples must be taken care of. Exercising, as recommended by the doctor, must be done regularly to tone the body and also to shed abdominal weight. Coming to the baby, the baby must be only breast fed till six months. The mother and child must remain together for emotional peace of both of them. Regular oil massages are also beneficial
