Post Coital Bleeding

October 1, 2009

Sometimes some women have the problem of bleeding after or during sexual intercourse. As such this is a worrisome state.

Causes of Post Coital Bleeding

There could be a number of reasons for this problem. Bleeding can be due to some infections which can occur through semen, vaginal discharge or blood from the partner. This is known as Chlamydia bacterial infection. This is transmitted through partners.

Gonorrhea is other bacterial infection which causes vaginal bleeding. You need to take proper antibiotic treatment for the diseases.

Other reasons could be vaginitis and infection caused by virus. It causes swelling and pain in the vagina.

Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted disease. It can easily be transmitted from one to another and could also be passed to the baby by the infected mother.

Polyps or tumors on the cervix or vaginal wall also become the cause for bleeding after or during intercourse.

Low levels of estrogen during pre or post menopausal cycle make the lining of vagina thin. This can make vagina more prone to infections and also get inflamed. These reasons can also contribute to the vaginal bleeding. Cervical cancers are also the cause for the same.

Other than all these infections natural cuts that are every day occurrence can also be the cause for bleeding from vagina.

Regular Check

Don’t panic it will be ok soon. But you need to keep a check how regular they are and how long they take to be alright.

But if a women suffers from vaginal bleeding regularly she should consult the doctor immediately and know the cause for the same and take medicines to rectify the problem.

Males can also suffer from this problem. Reasons for them could be bursting of some blood vessel or some polyps or small tumors could also be the cause. So consult a urologist for the problem.
