Oily Skin Care
People with oily skin may not have to worry much about early wrinkles but this type of skin needs more care for keeping excess oil away.
Cause of Oily Skin
The most common cause of oily skin is a diet high in fats and low in fiber. Genes too play an important role in occurrence of oily skin and the consequent acne. Changes in hormonal levels during puberty and during pregnancy may increase oil secretion from the glands. Humidity and contraceptive pills are also said to increase the oil secretion.
Role of Diet
Check the oil that one uses for cooking. Do not consume any food items that are made in excess oil. If using oil is necessary use virgin olive oil or coconut cooking oil. These oils are good for skin. Cut consumption of packaged and processed foods since these are high in salts, sugars and fats.
Sugary drinks and alcoholic beverages are no good either. Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins and excess soil. Water acts as a natural body cleanser.
Iron, vitamin B2, E and A are essential for skin care. Slight deficiency of B2 in body may make the skin oily. Fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables provide these nutrients in surplus quantity.
Daily Care and Face Packs
Daily care is vital for oily kin. Maintain a regular regime of cleansing toning and slight moisturizing. Contrary to what people may think moisturizing is important for oily skin. Use ones with a matt-finish, high in zinc. Do this twice daily.
Do not use warm water to wash the face. It may cause problem of open pores, especially in oily skin. Washing face with fuller`s earth powder while bathing is a simple remedy. Make a paste of fuller`s earth with rose water and apply on the face. Let it dry and wash with tap water.
Mash cucumber slices to obtain juice. Use this as your daily toner. To the cucumber pulp, add some sandalwood powder and make a paste. Apply this on face and let it dry.
You may use finely grinded almonds and walnuts for weekly scrubbing. Dry orange peels and grind them to obtain fine powder. To this powder you can add rose water or milk to make a face pack. Likewise lemon peels can also be dried and used as face packs.
