Never Ignore These Symptoms

Certain changes in your body must never be ignored. They may be early signs and symptoms of a serious health disorder. Keep a check on development of any of the following changes in the body.

Breathlessness without any exertion may suggest health problems like asthma, pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, obstructive pulmonary disease or lung disease. One must consult physician if shortage of breath occurs while lying down on bed. It could be due to some blood clot formation in the body.

Changes in skin too must not be ignored. Sudden appearance of zits, patches of white or yellow color, etc must be reported to the physician immediately.

Sudden change in bowel movements may be due to development of frequent constipation, a weeklong diarrhea, bloody stools, colon cancer, bacterial infection or bowel disease. These changes include frequent constipation, a weeklong diarrhea, bloody stools, frequent urge to pass urine/bowels or black stools.

Bowel changes may occur because of jet lag, changed food habits or use of some supplements. For example, eating watermelon in excess will cause stools to be of reddish color. Iron supplementation will make the stools appear black. Lack of water consumption will make the stools hard.

Therefore, it is important to understand what is normal and what is abnormal. Nevertheless, keep a check on such changes.

If one suddenly develops mental confusion then immediate check-up by the physician is highly recommended. Delirium must not be ignored at all. Friends and family members will be able to tell you better if there have been any sudden changes in your behavior. For example, sudden aggressive reaction for no reason, metal confusion and concentration problems.

Changes experienced through sensory organs must not be ignored. Sudden loss of speech, blurring of the vision, dizziness and frequent headache are not normal. Sudden onset of head ache is especially dangerous. It may suggest some blood clot in the brain or some form of cancer. Permanent retinal damage can occur by seeing sudden flashing of light regularly.

Sudden loss or gain of weight may reflect liver diseases, malabsorption disorders, depression or hyperthyroidism.

A fever that does not get treated within 3 days must be reported immediately to the physician.
