Women are often seen spending lot of money on cosmetic and skin care products. Of course, these products are helpful as not everyone is blessed with a flawless skin.

Also, there are some women who prefer to adopt the natural resources like aloe vera for their skin care regime. But have you ever heard of using tomatoes for a healthy and glowing skin?

Tomato is an amazing fruit. Not only is it used in many dishes to offer flavor and color; it is also a rich source of Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Some preparations from tomatoes like tomato sauce are hugely popular and consumed in almost every house. This shows that we know so many benefits of tomatoes, but are still unaware about its skin enhancing properties.

Tomatoes contain lycopene, which is rich in antioxidants. This fat soluble component is easily absorbed by the skin and helps in preventing many kinds of common infections and allergies. In fact, about 45% of the skin care products available in the market contain lycopene in varied proportion.

Irrespective of the weather conditions, we are exposed to constant temperature changes. Sometimes, we are sitting in a meeting in an air conditioned room and at the next moment we are under direct sunlight seeing off the client. This kind of an exposure is very harmful for our skin and hair as it results in premature aging. Though, we cannot control our activities due to professional commitments, but we can surely take good care of our skin by following simple home remedies.

Whether you are using a homemade face mask or a homemade lotion, be sure to make use of tomatoes in some way. Tomatoes are very helpful in keeping a clean and clear skin. Those with an oily skin are always seen making use of tomatoes to get rid of the excess amount of oil from their face. Also lycopene enhances the moisture retaining capacity of the skin, thus proving helpful for those with a dry skin as well.

Apart from being known as a great cancer fighting food, tomatoes help in treating acne and sun burns. Eat them, apply them, drink tomato juice or consume the tomato puree. Whatever might be the way, but you need to ensure that you consume sufficient amount of tomatoes to maintain a clean, glowing and healthy skin.
