July 9, 2009

When a woman becomes pregnant it is party time. Every happy couple needs a baby. But pregnancy is not easy. One of the threatening things that occur during pregnancy is the morning sickness. Almost every woman goes through this during the initial days of pregnancy but some bear this through out the gestational period.

Morning sickness occurs between sixth and thirteenth week of pregnancy and starts to settle down after that. There is no certain cause for this. Doctors say that the hormonal changes occurring in the body can be the cause.

Home Remedies for Morning sickness

You can do various things to get some relief from nausea. Doctors suggest that eating some crackers in the morning can help. Empty stomach can be the exciting cause. So as soon as you get up in the morning, have something to eat. Ginger is also said to ease such stomach problems. Therefore, having ginger tea or other ginger supplements can be helpful.

One should drink plenty of fluids. It is said when you vomit you loose necessary fluid from the stomach. So it’s necessary to keep the fluid levels optimum.

Don’t be empty stomach for long. Eat at short intervals as empty stomach is not good and you feel like vomiting. Drink fruit juices rather then eating fruits as stomach can easily digest the juices.

Use of lemon also reduces the feeling of nausea or vomiting. So keeping a fresh lemon or some lemon juice at your bedside and having it can be a good idea.

Eating spicy food produces heat in the stomach and is difficult to digest and cause heartburn and vomiting also. Thereby, you must eat a healthy diet that is good for you and your baby too. Also, eat your food slowly and chew it properly.

Completely stop consuming alcohol and smoking as it is bad for your child and also causes nausea and related sickness.

Go for morning walk, breathe in fresh air and do not keep sitting in one room only. Try to do some yoga meant for pregnant ladies and other light exercises as prescribed by the experts.

There are some medicines available in the market for some relief but you have to keep the above things in mind. They can definitely give you some relief.
