Minimizing Morning Sickness

Many women find it extremely difficult to deal with the situation. Here are a few things what need to be taken care about to minimize morning sickness.
Role of Diet
One must give in to the cravings and keep crispy and salty foods like crackers, cereals at the bed side. Try to eat these foods right before getting out of the bed in the morning.
Feeling full (but not heavy) is important. Eat small meals but eat them more frequently. Try to eat a diet rich in proteins and carbohydrates and avoid fat. Try not to eat a fatty meal at night.
It is suggested by experts that water should be drunk in between the meals rather than along with the meals.
By the second month women can recognize what triggers morning sickness and hence should avoid such foods and eating habits. Excess supplementation of iron may also lead to an aggravated nausea and vomiting. Consider re-consultation for taking iron supplementation with your health care expert. Supplementation with vitamins is very important, especially vitamin B 6.
Use of Aromas
The scent of lavender is very helpful in reducing signs and symptoms of morning sickness. Using a warm lavender compress the lavender can be placed on the forehead. Use of peppermint and lavender based room fresher is very soothing to the senses. One must avoid use of strong perfumes and smoky rooms. Try keeping the air clean.
Home Remedies and Herbs
Quick home remedies are helpful in dealing with morning sickness immediately. Try drinking herbal teas like peppermint, raspberry tea or spearmint tea every day early morning. One may add honey to these teas.
The heartburn during pregnancy is stressing. Regular consumption of fennel seed tea prevents heartburn. Ginger tea is equally helpful. It can be prepared by boiling ginger rhizome or roots in water. Just when you start feeling the discomfort, suck on sour pickles or a freshly cut lemon.
Things to Remember
Do not brush teeth immediately after eating something. The movement of the brush inside the mouth may cause unrest to the digestion taking place in the stomach. Drinking lemonade, without salt or sugar, gives instant relief.
Most women do not have to deal with morning sickness once the first trimester is over.
