Migraine And Menstrual Migrane
The term headache seems to have been taken over by a newer, more critical term-Migraine. More and more people these days complain of having severe head pains with feelings of vomiting and nausea. They complain to have a pulsating pain in one side of the brain. For those who don’t know what is going on- these are the most characteristic symptoms of migraine attack.
Patients often feel to see a certain form of aura and have difficulty in visibility. Over a period of time, many experience weak eyes. The exact reason is not known. Mint physicians link the condition as a result of excessive stress in life-style which leads to serotogenic changes in brain. The pain persists for a few hours to 72 hours.
The common treatments include over the counter painkillers and anti-emetic drugs. Home remedies include drinking of green tea or mint tea. Precautions include avoided excessive usage of salt, caffeine or sugar in daily diet. Migraine is gripping more and more women every year.
Apart from the regular migraine symptoms many women suffer from what is called as the menstrual migraine. The symptoms of menstrual migraine are more or less similar to regular migraine but it may be more severe. The condition if vomiting and nausea is more frequent. It may even last longer.
There are two types of menstrual migraine-Pure menstrual migraine / PMM and Menturally related Migraine / MRM. Menturally related migraine occur around the time when periods are expected by a women. It may reappear on the last days of the month. On the other hand, the pure menstrual migraine occurs only during the days of periods. The treatments included for menstrual migraine includes prescription of anti-inflammatory drugs (like aspirin, acetaminophen, etc).
Analgesics, corticosteroids and Intravenous DHE course if given if NSAIDS fail to provide relief. If these preventive treatments are not much effective then hormonal therapy is considered.
