Menstural Cycle

The term Menstruation is derived from the Latin word Menses which means Month and gave birth to Greek word Mene which means moon.

It strengthens the fact that moon completes a circle around the earth in 28 days so does the ovulation cycle of a woman consists of 28 days. Menstrual cycle consists of three phases.

These include Menstruation, Follicular Phase and Luteal Phase.

Menstruation, uterine bleeding or vaginal bleeding which lasts anywhere from 2-7 days. The two Hormones Estrogen and Progesterone better known as female hormones covers the Uterine lining with Mucus.

Due to non-fertilization spinal arteries of uterine lining close, stopping the blood flow to the surface of the lining so the blood keeps pooling in.

Once full till the brim it bursts out causing vaginal bleeding. The menstrual fluid is a mixture of Blood and Tissue from the Uterine Lining and blood loss in this period is approximately around 30-35 milimeters. Some women complain of Clotting which is because
of the presence of an Enzyme called Plasmin in menstrual fluid.

Cramping in abdomen, back and upper thighs, Breast tenderness, Bloating, Nausea, headaches, Irritability, Food cravings, Mood swings and excessive bleeding are the few symptoms of menstruation.

These symptoms constitute Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS), which has more than 150 symptoms and can disrupt a woman’s active lifestyle. Women dread this time because of these problems so to have a smooth and happy period they should simply follows things discussed next.

Exercise which improves circulation of blood and oxygen in the body. Breathing exercises also helps in relaxation. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits which have high content of iron to make haemoglobin.

These sources also offer good amounts of vitamin c which helps in absorption of iron. Additionally, vitamin C builds immunity and
acts as a strong antioxidant to fights signs of ageing.

Avoid Caffeine. Meditate. Maintain Hygiene by bathing daily and
using the right kind of sanitary pads.
