Women go through a well defined period of menopause. But have you heard about male menopause? It can better be understood as a stage where decrease in testosterone levels occurs. It is actually known as andropause. The diagnosis of the disease includes various blood tests including tests for blood testosterone levels.
The symptoms includes feeling of lethargy, general weakness, getting habitual to forgetting things and also waking up from bed all sweated. The person feels more irritated and experiences excessive mood swings. Regular joint pains and muscular aches are all part of male menopause. Lack on interest in sex and if forced will not be able to enjoy it due to lack of libido.
Men must try to understand that this condition is treatable and consultation with your doctor is essential to maintain a healthy life-style. First line treatment in male menopause includes TRT, which is Testosterone replacement therapy.
Although, it might provide relief from the symptoms but the problem with erectile dysfunction will still remain unsolved. Therefore other treatments must be explored as directed by the specialist. Although it has been proven now that male menopause does exist but occurrence of this condition is not universal.
The fact that why not all men undergo menopausal phase is even more intriguing the researchers all over the world. Many relate it as a condition that occurs during middle ages. The testosterone levels in men are at peak during the age of 18 to mid 20s. But by 20 the levels start to decrease gradually. Some men observed reduced hormonal levels by their 40s or 50s.
This data is also dependent on the family history of the male. There are many factors that evoke the deletion of androgen in males. The life-style diseases like cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and diabetes may gradually lead to male menopause. Although those young adults suffering from obesity and depression have also shown to develop male menopause.
