Male infertility and treatments

Once upon a time only women were held responsible for conceiving and men breezed through as if there could never be a problem with them. But today, it has been proved efficiently by medical sciences that men are equally responsible for making the women pregnant. Additionally, they are even responsible for the gender the child will have.

There have been many reasons which cause infertility in men these days. For example usage of Soy products for body building, excessive stress and nutritional deficiencies are amongst the major infertility related issues. There are some medications which can completely provide a solution to men infertility.

The most popular treats for men infertility are surgery, Drug therapy and assisted reproduction. The methods under assisted reproduction include in vitro fertilization, electroejaculation and sperm washing and retrieval. These treatments are discussed below.

The method of in vitro fertilization is one of the most widely used treatement. Here, the egg from the women and the sperm from the man are let to get fertilized under laboratory conditions. Then this fertilized embryo is placed into the uterus of the female.

Sperm washing is the most ideal thing to do in case of male infertility. Here, MESA technique is used where most preferable sperm is picked out by the surgeon. Another one is PESA, where the sperm can simply be selected by using a syringe. Testicular sperm extraction or TESE can also be used. Here, sperm is collected by removal of small tissues.

There are some other techniques available as well. These are Gamete intrafallopian transfer or GIFT and Intracytoplasmic sperm injection or ICSI. The Gift is a natural way to treat infertility whereas in method of ICSI, The egg is directly fertilized with the immobilized sperm.

Various drugs as well as surgical operations are available to men infertility and new researches are coming up regularly. Most of infertility cases are used due to changed life-style, smoking, drinking, low nutritional diet, obesity, etc. It is therefore important to proceed with a healthy living.
