Laser Hair Removal
January 28, 2010
Laser hair removal is a great option for those seeking a permanent hair removal solution. The procedure focuses on one follicle at a time. It involves providing laser light to the pigment of the hair follicle. This light is converted into heat by the pigment which destroys the follicle and hence avoids re-growth of the hair.
For the same reason that laser focuses on one hair follicle at a time it provides satisfying results for small area like upper lip, chin and bikini line. It is equally good for larger areas like legs and back.
The surgery must be performed only by a professional technician. Normally, your BMR will be tested before deciding about how many sitting your body will need or what type of equipment would be used.
Must Know…
Before getting started there are certain things you must know. You will be asked not to use hair removing chemicals before three weeks the procedure would start.
You must inform the technician if you are suffering from PCOD, PMS or any such disorder which has caused abnormal hair growth on your body. The tanned skin must resume its original texture before the treatment can be started. Also, laser procedure is more effective on a fairer skin with dark (black) hair.
The procedure may last from a few months to several months depending on the hair growth. After a while the hair will appear only as patches. These patches will eventually fade away.
Advantages
Skin care becomes easier after complete hair removal. Most of the chemicals used to remove hair have a skin darkening effect. Laser saves you from all those problems. Most women have reported to have clearer skin after laser treatment.
Risk and Disadvantage
Most of the complications arise when treatment is received from unprofessional clinics. In a case reported in USA, in order to save time a woman was asked to apply the numbing cream at home before she came for the laser treatment. The women suffered from heavy toxicity and died.
Laser is not effective on hair other than black. Since the heat damages the follicle, risk of lesions, burns and skin discoloration is always there.
Eyes must be covered well during the laser treatment as it may cause permanent damage.
