Most studied cancers in women are cervical cancers, ovarian cancer and breast cancer. Out of this breast cancer hits every 10th women globally.
Cancer can broadly be categorized into two types. One is malignant and the other is benign. Benign does not disperse and spread to other organs. It stays restricted to once region or organ therefore can be removed more easily.On the other hand, malignant is considered cancerous in true sense. Since it has the ability to spread and hence become uncontrollable.
Breast cancer is a form of malignant cancer. Breast cancer is further classified into subcategories but the most prevalent are ductal carcinoma and Lobular carcinoma. Ductal carcinoma refers to the ducts that carry milk from the lobules to nipples. Lobular carcinoma refers to lobes which are made of bulbs where milk is produced. There is no exact cause can not be predicted for prevention.
Genetic factors do play a very important role. The women who carry genes BRCA1 and BRCA2 are said to be at a higher risk of developing breast cancer at any time of their life. Ironically, it has been found that more than 80% of the breast cancer cases were not due to hereditary factors.
Age has been so far most acceptable cause for breast cancer. The risk factors increase with age.
An added risk factor is the hormonal replacement therapy post menopause. Also, women who develop menses early in their life are more possible to develop breast cancer later in life. Even contraceptive pills have been eyes as a possible factor to trigger breast cancer in women, according to a study in US.
Antioxidants have the capability to prevent cancer. Eating healthy diet rich in vitamin C and A has shown to help in possibility of cancer. Exercising too boosts natural immunity of body to fight occurrence of cancer. Most importantly, one must take changes in body seriously and get diagnosed in case of any doubt.
