Ischemia Heart disease
Ischemia is yet another disease of the heart which is taking the urban population with storm. In this disease the arteries cannot supply enough blood to the heart for normal functioning. The coronary artery is the key vessel to provide oxygenated blood to the heart for it to perform all necessary functions.
There occurs a deposition of fat. The fatty substances keep growing slowing unless the supply is completely blocked. It has been observed the atherosclerosis is the main factor which leads to ischemic heart disease. Atherosclerosis includes formation of plaques in blood anywhere in blood vessels.
The blockage of blood to the heart leads to heart attack. With this damage, there occurs a temporary pain in heart, occurrence of arrhythmias since the heart beat becomes irregular and some of the heart muscles may face permanent damage.
The symptoms and signs of ischemia consist of chest pain, paroxysmal, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiomegaly, orthonoea, excertional dyspnoea and peripheral oedema. There is no set cause for the development of ischemia. Diabetic and kidney patients are also at risk of developing ischemia. Obesity is yet another cause of ischemia to develop.
Prevention is better than cure therefore everyone must take care of their health. If there happens to be a history in your family for ischemia then adoption of a healthy life style and eating foods rich in antioxidants can be of great help.
Across the globe diabetic patients suffer form silent ischemia. This is because the patient is unable to get proper diagnosing. The risk of development of ischemia increases with age also. Heavy drinkers and smokers too are at much risk to develop this life threatening disease.
Ischemia is a powerful disease enough to cause sudden death. If possible with time, electric shock and CPR are the only methods to save the life of the person. There have been cases of severe paralysis post ischemia attack.
