Is Every Dog Bite Dangerous?

With the name of dog bite only, one starts thinking about rabies and becomes scared. A normal dog bites only when he thinks that he is at some danger and some dogs are aggressive by nature and they can bite without any reason. All dog bites do not cause rabies.

Here are some useful dog bite prevention tips

The very first step to be taken as soon as a dog bites is to wash the area with running water and dry it. It should be taken care that no saliva of the dog should be left. The cloth used for wiping should be thrown. The wound should not be closed unless there is a wound. Also, cover the wound with a dry pad only. Take the patient to the doctor immediately.

Doctor would give a tetanus injection first. The dog by which the person is bitten should be taken to some dog doctor and checked for rabies. If no symptoms develop then there is no need for rabies injections. But it is good if you take anti-rabies injections because some dogs with no symptoms of rabies carry rabies viruses which could be dangerous.

Take diet rich in vitamin B and C as it helps to fight infection quickly. Garlic is a natural antibiotic. One should take 2 to 3 cloves of garlic in a day till you are healed fully.

Grind salt, walnut and onion in equal proportions and add honey to it. Apply this mixture to the wound. By this you can neutralize the poison of the dog. Same way cumin seeds also help to reduce the toxic effects of dog bite. A mixture of castor oil and lime juice can also be applied on the wound. One can drink a glass of warm water mixed with honey and lime juice to reduce the pain.

One can apply some antibiotic cream on the wound till it is fully healed.
