Intestinal Worms in Children
Intestinal worms can occur in anybody but children are more prone to them. They mainly occur during rainy season. These worms enter the body by some foods, dirty hands and fingers. Some can enter by walking bare foot also.
Symptoms
The common symptoms of worm infestation are diarrhea, craving for food, foul breath, restlessness during night, grinding of teeth or itching around the rectum.
Types
There are three types of worms. Roundworms that cause inflammation in the intestine can cause nausea, weight loss, nervousness and irritability. Other type is threadworms that mainly cause itching around the rectum, diarrhoea or constipation or cough fever. The last variety is hookworms that cause anaemia.
Garlic is very much beneficial for treating these worms. It is one of the oldest methods. One can chew garlic clove and when the juice of garlic reaches the intestine, it kills the worms. If you don’t like the taste of garlic then you can put those in each shoe of the child. When the child would move, the cloves would get crushed and the juice of garlic would come in contact with the body and will do its work.
Carrot also helps in eliminating the worms and children are mainly fond of eating carrots. So, in the morning give them some grated carrots with nothing else for couple of days and see the results.
A very simple and effective remedy is to drink little hot water with rock salt added to it in the morning before eating anything.
Take some papaya seeds and grind them. Mix with water and drink it. If taken regularly for some days, it can cure your problem. Also the juice of pigweed is very beneficial for treating worms.
Drinking coconut milk or eating raw coconut also kills the worms. Juice of bitter guard, pomegranate and neem (Indian Lilac) is very good to kill the worms.
Various medicines are also available in the market. Consult your doctor and give them to your child to get rid of the problem.
