Information on Heartburn
Heart burn as the name suggests it has nothing to do with heart rather it is a condition when burning sensation appears in your upper abdomen just behind the chest.
The pain of burning can reach your throat from the diaphragm and it looks like that food is coming back into the mouth. It is very common problem due to modern lifestyle and wrong eating habits.
Usually it happens after the meals. This is linked with the digestive system. Anyone can have the problem of heart burn. In some it occurs once in a month, some have twice, some have it daily and like that.
The very basic cause of having heart burn is eating wrong food. With wrong food it is meant that eating food like fried, high fat, drinking lot of tea or coffee, consuming more of sweets or chocolates. One should take small meals before bedtime and should not lie on the bed immediately after the meal.
One can have heart burn if there is presence of hiatus hernia. Some medicines can also be the cause. Smoking is also said to cause heartburn.
Wearing tight clothes can also cause heartburn as it presses the stomach and the acids present in the stomach bounce back into the esophagus. Other conditions like pregnancy and obesity can also be the reasons.
Controlling Heartburn
You can reduce the occurrence of heartburn by keeping in mind certain things. You must drink plenty of water during the day. Eat small meals in the day at short intervals. Keep your head a little high by using a pillow or keep your bed at head side at high level. Take a healthy diet rather then eating fried and fatty stuff.
It is said that drinking cold milk reduce the heartburn but this is proved wrong. It will give you temporary relief but later on causes more heartburn as milk produces more acid in the stomach.
There are some heartburn home remedies to reduce it such as to drink aloe vera juice. Drinking cold water with sugar in it as soon as you start feeling heartburn can stop it. Drinking potato juice can too help. Do not peel the potato and take the juice just like that. You can also mix it with some other juice and drink. Coconut water also controls acidity.
