Importance of Testosterone Levels
Like women face decreased levels of estrogen hormones, men too experience equivalent levels of testosterone depletion during the ages of 45-55. Although, severe symptoms are missing and diagnose fails to identify it.
These decreased levels of hormones are considered cause of cardiovascular diseases, liver dysfunction, variable cholesterol levels and mild anemia.
A decrease in intensity of body hair also decreases. Many men never disclose about that they are experience decreased sexual drive or as unable to perform sufficiently. These are observed as self-diagnosed symptoms. A general feeling of weal being is not observed. Person might get irrigated due to small issues. Sooner the symptoms are indentified, the better it is.
Testosterone deficiency must be taken seriously and if absolutely necessary, your physician might suggest you to get appropriate treatment done. Testosterone deficiency may occur due to many reasons. It may be due to genetic history in family. Too much iron supplementation also causes decreased testosterone levels.
Excess stress and alcohol also decrease their levels. Taking corticoid medication may be another reason. People with kidney failure are most likely to have testosterone deficiency.
Additional harm of chemotherapy is to cut the levels of testosterone. Any form of chronic illness, including GERD or Peptic ulcer would greatly affect their levels in body.
Treatments include prescription of oral tablets, testosterone gels for application and intramuscular injections. The injections are given every second week or as required. A testosterone patch can be worn on scrotum which delivers the hormone in trans-dermal manner.
Testosterone replacement therapy is another option. This can never be done unless and until a person has gone under test of prostate cancer and breast cancer. If test is positive, testosterone therapy can not be applied. Even if you have no doubts about your health, but as a precaution, you must get yourself annually checked to avoid any complications. Remember? Prevention is better than cure.
