How to Color Your Hair at Home
Before we disclose how to perfectly color your hair at home it is important to understand that hairs need to be prepared for the make-over. Most of the artificial and natural dyes are drying in nature hence make sure your hair are well nourished.Procedure
Wash your hair but make sure they are not too dry. Do not use oil prior to hair wash. Avoid drying hair using a blow dryer. De-tangle your hair completely to avoid stress to the hair.
Separate hair in small partitions using clips. Prepare the dye as per the instructions on the pack. Cover your neck with thin plastic sheet. In case a friend of yours is coloring your hair then apply a thin film of wax on the back of the neck so that color does not drip to the neck.
Using applicator or a hair brush apply color to the front hair and the gradually come to the middle and back hair. When you apply color to one segment cover it with foil paper so that the hair segments remain detached from one another.
Once done, keep the color as per the instructions given on the pack. Gently remove each foil cover and wash hair with cold water using a shampoo especially for the colored hair. Remember to condition the hair.
Choice of Artificial Dyes
The choice depends on the fact whether you wish to cover-up the grey or simply looking for a new hairstyle.
Semi-permanent dyes are best options since they add shine to the hair without providing a very thick shade. Also, they stay well for 8 to 10 washes. They are not strong and hence do not cause damage to the hair.
Avoid use of permanent dyes since they may damage the hair follicles.
Natural Dyes
Coffee, tea bags, indigo, beet root juice and henna are best known natural dyes. You can even mix these colors to get a stylish look. These dyes come under the semi-permanent category and they fade without damaging the natural shade of your hair.
