Honey: Health All-Rounder

Honey is as healthy as poisonous it can be if cooked. There has been a serious mention in Ayurveda that honey must never be cooked since it acts as a slow poison.

When honey is cooked, the homogenized solution is changed into a separate product which clogs the exchange channels at the cellular level.

Over a period of time, this kind of honey causes cellular toxicity and may cause thickening of the arteries causing arthrosclerosis.

Nutrition Content

Raw honey is not just a healthy low calorie sweetener but is source to vitamin B-complex, vitamin E, C, essential minerals, enzymes like catalase, chrysin, and amino acids.

It offer carbohydrates primarily in the form of fructose but glucose and sucrose are also present. The contents present in honey depend on the manufacturing of the product.

Benefits

Health offers several health benefits. It provides instant energy when taken with lukewarm water. Topical application blocks bacterial growth and helps in wound healing. It is equally effective in postoperative wounds.

Due to its nutritional content honey is a powerful antioxidant. It fights free radicals and helps prevent aging and age related disorders.

It helps in weight loss. It acts as fat burner when consumed early morning empty stomach with lemon juice in warm water. Add it to your daily herbal tea for better digestive and increased physical and mental energy. Plus, due its sweet taste and richness it is a good aphrodisiac.

Honey can be used in a toothache remedies. For this, make a paste of cinnamon powder (1 tbsp) with 5 tbsp of honey. After washing mouth, apply it 3-4 times in a day. It helps in reducing pain significantly.

Honey is effective in arthritis care. Add warm water to mixture of cinnamon powder and honey to make a smooth paste. Apply it on the effected area. It aids in reducing pain and itching over some period of time.

Honey is used liberally in cosmetic industry for its antioxidant and moisturizing properties. When mixed with egg whites and applied on face and neck, the packs helps in reducing wrinkles and make skin soft.

Mix equal quantities of honey and lemon juice and store in a cool and dry place. Apply this mixture daily for 10 minutes. Gradually, your skin tone will improve.
