Each and every one of us gets a headache at some point of time. Since headaches are not a very severe disorder, we try to avoid visiting a doctor as there is no need for that. And the best remedy that we know to cure a headache and follow it religiously is – take a pain killing pill. But do you think it is the best way to cure headaches? Well, not always! This is so because there are many causes for this condition and taking a pill can sometimes prove to be a wrong option.

There are some simple home remedies that can cure this disturbing condition and provide you relief. If you are experiencing a mild headache then it is better to take rest by sleeping in a dark and quiet room. If you are experiencing fever then apply some ice pack on your forehead as it will provide relief to the head and reduce the body temperature. Do not think about anything that increases your tension. Just close your eyes and relax; think as if you taking a short nap.

If your headache is severe then you can massage your head with either almond oil or peppermint oil. Massaging on forehead, temples and the back of neck can be very effective in relieving pain immediately. Another proven method is by rubbing rose petals on forehead, temples and wrists of the patient. This will discharge the oil from the rose petals on the aching area and provide immediate relief as rose petals are known to provide coolness to the body. Also, inhaling the fragrance of rose will reduce the severity of pain and the length of the pain. If you do not have rose petals then add a few drops of rose water to the cool compress and relax.

Though the above mentioned remedies can help in curing a headache, but it is important to know the cause for the headaches. If you are frequently getting these pains, then you should maintain a dairy noting the day and time of developing a headache and immediately consult a doctor.
